CHAPTER 1
I, Elizabeth Wilson woke up at 8:00 due to the horrible screeching sound of my alarm clock. Nobody can sleep through it! Anyway, I quickly did my daily routine, said “bye” to my parents and rushed to my bus stop worried I would be late. I saw Taylor, my BFF who is in the same class as me, 5th grade with Mrs. Williams. After about 5 minutes, the bus came and we got on. We went to the last seat on the bus and sat together. Since we are now in the last grade in the school, we can sit wherever we wish. We munched on some cookies I brought for us to share and some chips Taylor brought to share. We both never eat our breakfast so we eat treats on the bus. Then, we discussed homework.
“I did math, reading and um spelling.” said Taylor with her mouth full. I panicked because I never knew I had to do spelling! Mrs. Williams is really strict! I will have to stand in front of the class and say “I will have to stay in for recess for being so irresponsible.” And I couldn’t do it now because I need to do it in my notebook (which I forgot at school) or it is not counted as homework.
“Lizzy! Are you okay?” Taylor asked. “FORGOT SPELLING!” “Dude I didn’t know you were that gullible!”Taylor yelled. I stared blankly. “I was kidding about spelling!!” I was irritated, but relived that there was no spelling homework. “Thanks Taylor the alligator!”
I was having a good sleep in math class until Mrs. Williams came and bonked my head. I sat up rubbing my head.
“HOMEWORK!” she said in a nasally voice. I quickly toke out my workbook and flipped to the page. “Good and meet me at recess. I will talk to you about sleeping during class” Before I could argue she went to the next row of kids to check homework. 2 girls had to go up in front of the class and say “I will have to stay in for recess for being so irresponsible.” So that meant I wasn’t the only person who had to stay in for recess.
CHAPTER 2
When recess arrived I was about go outside when Taylor nudged me. “WHAT!!” I shrieked.
“Take a chill pill, Liz! I just wanted to remind you that you have to stay in for recess!” I had completely forgotten about that. I tried to sneak out when I heard Mrs. Williams’s obnoxious voice.
“Elizabeth Wilson, get your butt here this instant!” Instead of telling her to call me Liz or Lizzy not Elizabeth, I went to her desk and sat on a broken, wobbly chair across from her. After all the kids left the room, she gave the 2 girls papers to fill out. They had to write “I am sorry. I will never forget home work again” 50 times.
Then, she looked at me. We sat silent saying nothing at all for about 5 minutes. She handed me an envelope and then said “Give this to your parents.” Then, she began lecturing me about sleeping during class. She told me to go back to my desk, put my head down and think about what I did. And I fell asleep again!!! I think Mrs. Williams knew this was going to happen because she had another envelope in her which she gave me after I woke up.
“Here is another envelope to give to your parents! Your parents have to sign both the envelopes. It’s lunch time so scram!” I ran to the lunch room, took my lunch box out of the crate, and threw my lunch box next to Taylor.
“What happened?” Taylor asked. I explained everything. “OH NO! Your mom will certainly overreact!” She wasn’t wrong. Last year, I got a 3+ on my math test and my mom wouldn’t talk to me for a month!
After lunch we went back to the classroom. I ate as much candy as I could so that I wouldn’t fall asleep. Luckily I didn’t fall asleep for the rest of the day. Taylor and I waited for like 20 minutes before our bus got called. I was so deep in thoughts about what would happen that I almost got on the wrong bus! Taylor grabbed my hand and yanked it on the bus. “Don’t worry lizzy! It will be fine! And I will help you out as much as I can.” whispered Taylor. I knew she would help me, but I was still really worried.
CHAPTER 3
As soon as I got home I threw the letters on my parent’s laps. They took a look at the envelopes. My dad opened it and my mom grabbed it and started reading it. I sat next to them and read it as well. It said:
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Wilson,
I am very disappointed with your daughter’s behavior. She fell asleep during math class. I despise the fact that she discourages me to teach. One more time and Elizabeth will go straight to the principal office. You are lucky I am kind and I am letting her off the hook this time. But only this time. She should not go to sleep late at night. Here’s a short saying- Early to bed early to rise. Not only will sleeping early make her wake up early, but it will also keep her awake during class. Make sure she never falls asleep during class again. And tell Elizabeth that I am very disappointed in her. Please sign below if you agree that this will never happen again
Thanks,
Clare Williams

And that was only the first letter. My mom’s face became red after reading the first letter. Her eyes widened. My dad sat calmly. My mom ripped open the second envelope. It said:
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Wilson,
It has happened again! I made this letter beforehand knowing this would happen. This is what happened. I sent Elizabeth back to her seat telling her to put her head on her desk and think about what she had done. And as soon as she put her head down on her desk, she was out like a light. This is the second time she has fallen asleep! This is an outrage! I am going to allow it one more time just because both incidents happened on the same day. I hope you understand how I feel. It is just trouble handling your daughter. And I am sure you know that if this happens one more time Elizabeth will be sent to the principal’s office. I am warning you, this is the last time.
Thank you,
Clare Williams
“Lizzy, hand me my laptop.” My mom said still looking at the letter. I gave it to her and sat next to my mom to look at what she was doing. “Honey, make Lizzy some milk.” My mom said to my dad. I went over and sat on a chair. I slowly drank my milk down for about half an hour, tossed the cup in the sink and plopped next to my mom, who had closed her laptop. “I did something I am very proud about. I typed about Mrs. Williams all over the internet!!!”
CHAPTER 4
“What the heck!” My dad and I yelled in unison. I couldn’t believe she had actually done that! Grabbed her laptop and checked her latest post on her blog. (I know all her usernames and passwords.) 140,238,080 views! It was increasing by the second! I checked her Facebook account. 888,888,888 views! All those 8’s made me really dizzy! I checked all of the websites I knew she would post on. I heard the doorbell ring. My dad I sat quietly.
“Oh. I’ll get it!” my mom said with a sharp attitude. A bunch of camera men came in asking my mom questions. My mom loves attention so she happily started answering the people. My dad and I ran over and slammed the door.
“Ryan, Lizzy! Of course now you get off the couch!” my mother complained.
“Vanessa! You’re crazy! You’re ruining Liz’s life!” (FYI mom calls me Lizzy, dad calls me Liz and Taylor calls me both.)
I skipped dinner at night and just went to sleep. In the morning, I got dressed and when I opened the front door, a bunch of camera men came pushing towards me. I shrieked and ran inside. I went crying to my dad telling him what happened. This happened for days and finally one day, on a weekend, my dad had an idea.
“It’s your mom’s fault, honey.” My dad paused and then continued. “I have a plan. My dad whispered the plan in my ear. It was an amazing idea! I ran over to my computer and went to Microsoft word. I typed “Vanessa Wilson apologizes for everything she said.” I printed 200 sheets. Next, I deleted all the things that I could that my mom typed. Last, I called Taylor and told her to come near my window, collect all the sheets and stick them everywhere.
Taylor came over and took the sheets. “Thank you so much” I said to Taylor.
“Liz, remember when I told you I would do whatever I could to help you? I am just keeping up my promise. She ran away sticking the papers on trees. She came back and asked for another 200 to put on a table so people could take it and read it. I printed 200 more and gave it to her.
The next day was Monday. I opened the door frightened that I might have wasted 400 sheets of paper for nothing. To my surprise no one was there. I was a normal girl again! I danced of to school. There was another surprise there. Mrs. Williams didn’t bother me at all! She even let me sleep through class. So now she is scared of me! Well, scared of my mom. I am now the happiest girl in the world. And to my surprise, I owe it all to my mom. And some of my happiness to my dad and Taylor, too! J
